Morris decided that he wanted to paint
when he was in 10th grade, and through the years his passion for art
has continued to grow. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the
University of Wisconsin-Stout with a major in art education. He then
went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he
earned a Masters of Fine Arts, majoring in Painting.
During and after college he taught at several schools,
including his alma maters, as well as the University of Colorado,
the University of Wisconsin Marshfield, and the Sheboygan Area
School District in Sheboygan, WI.
It is easy to see why Morris begins
the titles of many of his works with the words, “Ode To…”
His work reflects his joy for painting and his
interpretation of his view of life through his use of exhilarating
brush strokes and a broad palette of color.
He invites the viewer to join him as he describes a scene or
feeling that has inspired him.
Morris wants and expects a hands-on experience with his art.
He invites people to touch his paintings.
By creating in this colorful,
non-representational style Morris also believes it allows the viewer
to see and feel whatever they personally want to, which is exactly
what draws art collectors to his work.
After making a purchase at a studio art tour in March, an
art collector wrote to Morris to reiterate that very message.
The talented artist has won awards for
his unique work, and Morris has been invited to exhibit his work at
many shows in Wisconsin, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio among
other places. He has participated in many Invitational Shows,
including the Tri-International Invitational (USA, Italy and Japan)
in Numazu City, Japan. He has also done one man shows and group
shows including recently at the Fountain Hills Arts Council in
Arizona and the Tour d’Artists in Fountain Hills.
His work is featured in countless corporate and private
collections throughout the United States. |
